Comfort's Rich History Throughout Upstate NY

Family owned and operated for over 35 years, right here in Central New York.

Today, Comfort operates over 90 trucks and employs more than 200 people across New York state. Superior service and thousands of satisfied customers continue to make us "The Name You Know, The People You Trust."
1979

Bill Putzer Jr. founds Comfort Window Co.

Bill began the business out of his home where he sold, installed and serviced windows that he purchased wholesale from various manufacturers throughout the Northeast.

1981

Bill opens the first Comfort showroom on Milton Ave. in Syracuse

After experiencing some success, Bill decided to expand the company. He opened up a storefront location on Milton Ave. in Syracuse and began to hire sales, installation and office staff.

1983

Comfort Manufacturing is born

In order to provide customers with a higher quality, more energy efficient window, Bill opens Comfort Manufacturing in Liverpool, NY with the help of his parents. Comfort now controls the entire window process from concept to installation.

1986

Comfort opens a showroom in Rochester

Comfort Windows makes its first expansion outside of Syracuse opening a new location at 1380 Scottsville Rd., in Rochester, New York. Also at this time, the product line changes to include doors, siding and enclosures.

1989

Fritz Gentile joins the family

Bill brings aboard friend and current general manager Fritz Gentile as a sales representative and hires his sister Laurie to handle finances. Soon after, Fritz and Laurie are married, building on the family core that continues to run the company today.

1994

Comfort Syracuse outgrows the Milton Ave. location and moves to its current showroom

Today, Comfort headquarters can be found at 3624 John Glenn Blvd., Syracuse.

1994

Comfort opens its Albany showroom

Comfort ventures into the Capital Region with its third branch, at 898 Troy Schenectady Rd., Latham. Comfort also begins to take on commercial projects in addition to residential.

2003

Comfort Home Improvement becomes a fully accredited Building Performance Institute organization

Insulation and home energy audits are integrated into the product line.

2005

Comfort wins the BBB Torch Award for Excellence in Market Place Ethics

The award is given to the company with the highest customer satisfaction by the Better Business Bureau.

2007

Comfort wins the BBB Torch Award for the second time

2010

Comfort opens its Buffalo showroom

Around the time of the addition of basement remodeling to its product line, Comfort saw the opening of a new showroom at 575 Ludwig Ave., Cheektowaga.

2010

Comfort wins its third BBB Torch Award

2013

Comfort awarded the Angie's List Super Service Award

2013

Comfort wins the BBB Torch Award for the fourth time

2016

Comfort moves to a larger Albany showroom

The new showroom is located at 27 Warehouse Row Albany, NY.
