Comfort Home Insulation

Comfort Windows' cellulose spray foam insulation is three times denser than traditional fiberglass insulation, making it highly thermal-resistant and more energy-efficient. Because it is blown directly into attic ceilings, walls, and floors, cellulose insulation reaches into nooks and crannies that would otherwise go un-insulated by traditional rolls of fiberglass insulation. For homes that regularly brave the harsh winters of Upstate NY, this insulation is invaluable.

  • Energy Efficient & Practical: When your home is properly insulated, the warm and cool air stays tightly locked within your home rather than escaping through inadequate insulation. This means your heating and cooling equipment doesn't have to work overtime, pipes won't freeze, and you won't encounter roof and ceiling leaks from potential ice damming. Insulation also serves other practical uses, such as better soundproofing your home. Moreover, improved insulation will help increase your home's resale value. Lowered utility bills resulting from good insulation is a perk homebuyers and real estate agents look for, so if you plan on selling your home one day, keep the insulation up-to-date.
  • Cost Effective & Environmentally Friendly: Comfort Windows uses cellulose insulation, which has several advantages over other forms of insulation. Its high thermal resistance translates to energy and money savings for the consumer, and it helps the environment by reducing the number of chemicals released into the air from air conditioning units. Our cellulose insulation is also the most cost-effective and environmentally friendly insulation available, with its composition consisting of 100% recycled fibers. Upstate NY families in the Syracuse, Rochester, Albany, Buffalo, and Ithaca areas that wish to shrink their carbon footprints would especially benefit from our cellulose insulation.

Air Sealing by Comfort Home Improvement

Air Sealing

Air sealing stops air infiltration with caulk and expanding spray foam in hard-to-reach crevices and cracks most commonly found in attics, basements, and crawl spaces. The average home has enough cracks and gaps that, when not air sealed, is the equivalent of leaving a window open year-round.

Comfort can increase the effectiveness of your home's insulation by stopping warm moist air from transferring through heated spaces into cold unconditioned attics and basements. Comfort can also reduce ice outside and drafts inside by sealing air leaks at the top of your interior and exterior walls, and in your basement around rim joints and plumbing chases.

  • Cost Effective & Energy Efficient: Without an air seal, the insulation in your attic works like an air filter instead of the thermal barrier it is supposed to be. According to the U.S. Department of Energy, air infiltration can account for 30% or more on a home's heating and cooling cost. Not only does air leakage directly increase your monthly utility bill, it can also cause moisture problems which will slowly destroy the structural integrity of your home with mold and mildew.

  • The Testing Process: Comfort Home Improvement's auditor uses diagnostic tools to determine the level of insulation in your walls and the cause of any problems you may be experiencing such as drafty rooms, heat loss, cold air loss, cold rooms, ice dams, uneven snow melt, damp basements, and moisture on windows. The auditor also checks for gas leakage, duct leakage, and improperly vented combustion appliances. These can all affect your home's building envelope and determine how green your home is.
Following the inspection, the auditor will recommend improvements to put you on a path towards energy efficiency. Measures can include air sealing and duct sealing, insulation, installation of energy efficient lighting, new HVAC equipment, or windows. Often, the best solution for most homes is a combination of several improvements.

Information & Applications

“Comfort Windows did insulation in my home last year. First class work!! This year my heating bills were lower, my house warmer, and in spite of so much snow, no ice dams. In previous years, I had huge ice problems. I was truly amazed at the improvement!! Thank you, Comfort!!! I'm a happy customer.”

—Christine, Syracuse

“We had our home insulation and had all new windows installed throughout the house. In both instances, the crews were on time, very professional, cleaned up at the end of the day, and were courteous throughout. The company stands behind their products and services, and both crews that worked on our home didn't leave until we were completed satisfied. We also liked the fact that the company uses their own employees to do the work; they do not use sub-contractors. We will certainly use them again.”

—Robert, Fairport

The quality of installations and products are second to none. Recently they installed insulation in my Cape Cod home. When they were finished, it was as though no siding was even removed, and the house was immediately warmer. My winter bill for February was 17% lower than January. We all thought the savings would take a few years. They even came back to check their own work to make sure the job was done properly. Great company and very professional. The young men that did the job were very polite and friendly. Clean up was excellent.”

—Frank, Mattydale

“The insulation project on our 1950s Cape Cod is finished! A noticeable difference the first day; for the first time ever, we have the same temperature in all rooms. Now the only question is "Why didn't we do this years ago!?" Thank you Comfort Windows!"

—Deanne, Liverpool

“I was very impressed with all the Comfort employees and their professionalism. I thought Keith and Kelly worked their tails off and I could tell it was done as if it was their own home. I would highly recommend Comfort for anyone that wants it done right.”

—Tom, Fulton
