Thermal Insulation and Energy Conservation
During colder months a significant portion of your home's heat is lost through bare foundation walls resulting in higher energy bills. Therefore, the Energy Conservation Section of many Building Codes, including the New York State Code, requires that if more than 12 inches of a basement wall is above grade, the wall shall comply with an insulation R-Value minimum of R-13 in order to be considered habitable space. R-Value is a measure of thermal resistance and indicates how well a material insulates against heat loss. The larger the value, the greater the resistance to heat movement and loss. Comfort Basement Finishing System’s has the only insulated acoustic panels in the industry which have an R-13 insulation value. This not only makes for a comfortable room, you also save money and conserve our natural resources through less energy consumption.

Worry-Free Moisture, Mold and Mildew Resistant Materials
Basements are susceptible to mold and mildew growth because foundation walls are porous and inherently contain moisture. Avoid that musty smell you can get from traditional outdated remodeling methods which use cellulose-based wood framing and drywall, a food source for mildew and toxic mold. With our modern wall system you can relax and take comfort in knowing that mold and mildew are not growing behind your walls.* Engineered for breathability, moisture is not trapped within and behind the walls. Without food and water, mold can’t grow. This is truly a system designed with the basement in mind.

About Mold
Mold is a fungus whose growth is encouraged by warm and humid conditions. Some indoor molds have the potential to produce extremely potent toxins called mycotoxins which are readily absorbed in the intestinal lining, airways and skin. One of the common species is called Stachybotrys. Health problems related to mold exposure range from mild to severe. Infants are especially vulnerable.
For detailed information we recommend you consult your physician, local health department or visit www.CDC.gov (U.S. Center for Disease Control).
