Air Sealing
Air sealing is one of the most cost effective ways to improve the comfort and energy efficiency of your home.
No matter how much insulation you put in your attic, if you do not air seal, the insulation does not work properly. Without an air seal, the insulation works like an air filter more than a thermal barrier.
But what is air sealing? It is the process by which one stops air infiltration with caulk and spray foam in those hard to reach crevices and corners most commonly found in attics, basements, and crawl spaces. With air sealing, you will increase the overall comfort of your home — both physically and financially.
According to the U.S. Department of Energy, air infiltration can account for 30% or more on a home’s heating and cooling cost. Not only does air leakage directly increase your monthly utility bill, it can also cause moisture problems which will slowly destroy the structural integrity of your home with mold and mildew.
Increase the effectiveness of your home’s insulation by stopping warm moist air escaping from heated spaces into cold unconditioned attics and basements. Reduce ice outside and drafts inside by sealing air leaks at the top of your interior and exterior walls. In your basement, seal leaks around rim joints and plumbing chases.
Lower your monthly utility bills and increase your Comfort.
