Comfort Window Co., Inc. was founded in 1979 by Bill Putzer, Jr. in Syracuse, NY. Bill began the business out of his home where he sold, installed and serviced windows that he purchased wholesale from various manufacturers throughout the Northeast.

After experiencing some success Bill decided to expand the company. He opened up a storefront location on Milton Ave. in Syracuse and began to hire sales, installation and office staff.

Wanting to sell and install a better quality window for his customers, Bill convinced his mother and father to help start a window manufacturing facility in Central New York.

Comfort Windows launched Comfort Window Manufacturing in 1983 to build an exclusive product line for Comfort customers. This allowed Comfort to control the entire process from conception to installation. This single source accountability coupled with no subcontracted labor and a dedicated service department proved to be unbeatable.

By 1986, Comfort Windows made its first expansion outside of Syracuse opening a new location in Rochester, NY. It was also at this time that the product line was changed to include doors, siding and sunrooms.

In 1989, Bill brought aboard friend and current General Manager Fritz Gentile as a sales representative. Soon after that, Bill’s sister, Laurie, and Fritz were married. Laurie also stepped in and took over financial responsibilities for the company; establishing the family core that continues to run the company today.

The Comfort expansion continued in 1994 with Syracuse outgrowing the confines of its Milton Ave. location and moving to its larger, current showroom, on John Glenn Blvd. Several months later Comfort ventured into the Capital Region with its third branch, in Albany, NY. It was also at this time that Comfort began to take on commercial projects.

In 2003, Comfort became a fully accredited Building Performance Institute organization and insulation and home energy audits were integrated into the product line. In 2005, and 2007 Comfort won the prestigious Better Business Bureau Torch Award for Excellence in Marketplace Ethics, the award is given to the company with the highest customer satisfaction for that year (Businesses are now eligible 3 years after winning).

More recently Comfort saw the addition of basement and bath remodeling to its product line and the opening of a new showroom in Buffalo, NY. In 2010, Comfort Windows once again won the Better Business Bureau Torch Award for Excellence in Market Place Ethics. In 2011, Comfort was ranked the 22nd home remodeler in the U.S. and #1 in Upstate NY as published by Qualified Remodeler magazine.

Today, Comfort operates over 90 trucks and employs over 200 people across New York State. Superior service and thousands of satisfied customers continue to make Comfort Windows "The Name You Know. The People You Trust."
